About The Instructor
Rabbi Elchonon Tauber was born and raised in Brooklyn, New York. He attended the Viener Yeshivah in Williamsburg and Sha’ar Yosha Yeshiva in Boro Park. From 1973 to 1979 he pursued advanced studies at the Lakewood Kollel, and was chosen as one of a select group of students who opened a branch of the Lakewood Kollel in Los Angeles. As the sole Breslover in town, Rabbi Tauber began teaching Likutey Moharan and merited to spread Rebbe Nachman's wisdom on the West Coast. With the founding of the Breslov Research Institute in 1979, he began using their texts and encouraged hundreds of seekers to adapt Rebbe Nachman as their spiritual guide. In 1984 Rabbi Tauber was appointed Dayan at Congregation Bais Yehuda, where he has been rendering halakhic opinions and decisions for the Greater Los Angeles Jewish community for nearly three decades. Rabbi Tauber’s greatest passion remains learning and teaching. He delivers daily Daf Yomi and other shiurim and lectures throughout the Los Angeles area, expounding on Talmud, Jewish law, Jewish mysticism, and Rebbe Nachman’s teachings, where he especially likes to emphasize the importance of daily hitbodedut and shalom bayit.
